Tasty Kale

Some of our Aberdeen Angus X cattle strip grazing kale on the farm.

This is the first time we have grown kale for over 30 years the last time we grew it in these fields was in the late 1970’s
when it was grown for the dairy cows we used to have at Springfield Farm in Westcott.

It’s great winter cattle feed high in starch and protein we supplement the fibre requirement with grass silage.

Late Lambs in the Sun

Our late lambs hanging in the sun. Their earlier half siblings will soon be ready to possibly jump into your freezer!

It’s finally greening up!

Finally it seems like everything is greening up under the hill.
About time to !

Spring in the Woods

Spring finally breaking through on a ditch side on one of our woodland edges.

Ploughing at last

Finally it’s dry enough to get some ground ploughed.
These fields behind Westcott are to be sown with grass a risky job in the spring.
It should have been done in the autumn but it was so we you couldn’t move properly on the fields without sinking !
